SCAM Questions:

I have been sent an email and it sounds like it could be a possible SCAM. Can you help me determine if this is a SCAM?

  • Great Old Cars will give advice but ultimately you must decide if the buyer is legitimate. Most web sites stay away from any advice. Great Old Cars will tell you if we believe the emails have been sent by a SCAM artist but we are not lawyers and cannot and will not be held responsible. Most SCAMs are easy to detect. Use common sense. If it sounds to good to be true, it is. read our SCAM Alert Page for more details.

  • No legitimate buyer will send more than the asking price with a request for you to send the difference to someone that they designate. If they do, it is a SCAM. A seller should never send money to any buyer for any reason. Read our SCAM Alert Page for more details

  • Always get a phone number and the individual's name once an offer has been made. Call him/her. Try to find the person by searching the internet in White Pages, etc. Ask for the bank that they will be using. Call his/her bank for verification once you receive payment. Get the bank's phone number from the White Pages. If anything sounds funny or you catch the person in a lie, stop the deal at once. Use caution and common sense. Read our SCAM Alert Page for more details.

Email / Communications Questions:
  • How are emails displayed in ads?

  • By default, your email is not displayed. Buyers click on to your ID name and send you an email without seeing your email address. At the time you place an ad, you have an option to display emails. If you click the check box to "expose with ad", your email will be displayed in the ad. Buyers can click and send an email and they will also be able to see it.

Troubles logging in to Great Old Cars or having other Internet Browser issues:
  • If you are having problems or your browser seems to be running slow, it is a good idea to clean up your Internet Files. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, click on "tools" at the top of your browser. Then click on "Internet Options". Next click on "Delete Cookies". You will then be asked if you want to delete all cookies in the Internet Temporary Files folder. Select "Yes".

  • Next click on Delete Files. Then, check "Delete all offline content" and click OK. You will see an hour glass. It may run for a minute or two if you have not deleted files for awhile. Next click OK at the bottom of this Internet Options window.

  • Next, close your browser and go off of the internet. Open your browser up again and go to Great Old Cars or any other website. You will be amazed at how much better your web surfing is going to be.
